Amazing artist!

Wow that was fun to look at! Felieke Van Der Leest is a Dutch artist who has been crocheting less years than I've been beading, how does she do it?

When ever I see artists that have a plethora of pieces that they have made I always wonder how they have so much work for such a young age. Very time consuming pieces, and a lot of them, I wish I knew how they do it. Do they sleep? Do they have other jobs? Drugs?
I've always said if I could have any super power it would be that I would never need to sleep. Well that and that I could eat whatever I wanted and never gain weight! :-D

Worldly Chocolate

I didn't get a chance to blog on friday because we were busy at work and then, I got to leave at 11:30 when my 40 hours were up. BIG grin on my face when I get to leave!

I wanted to thank my sis for sending me some chocolate, or I should say chocolat from her trip to London. My favorite chocolate, La Maison du Chocolat. OMG it is sooo good, it's the chocolate that made me like dark chocolate. There was a pistachio bar dipped in chocolate, a chocolate egg in a real egg shell! She also sent a tin that is filled with little squares of milk and dark chocolate. I'm looking forward to emptying that tin, with it's beautiful matte brown finish :-}
She bought them at all places Harrods! What can I say she loves to shop and she loves her some chocolate. So I'm in America eating French chocolate that came from England! Works for me!

Thanks again JW, kisses.

I'm just nuts for this house and the color of the door!

The DH and I have a love of tree houses. And we have the tree's to use. Someday maybe we'll get around to building one. And I would love to paint the door this color, on the inside of course. Because the magic of a tree house is that it blends in with the tree!

Fishy, Foodie Friday

Fish taco's for supper tonight! Yum! It's been really warm here the last few days, but come tomorrow and Sunday it's going to change to cold with rain and snow. Boo Hiss! But today it's going to be sunny and 67 degree's. So I'm going to take advantage of this day, and grill us up some fish taco's.

And to go with it, mango salsa, of course.

Washing them down with Negra Modelos, we can close our eyes and think we're in the tropics! Ah bliss!

Sunday I'm planning on making this Orange Roast Chicken.

To go with is I think I make something with my new favorite vegetable, spaghetti squash.

My Old Backyard

Yesterday morning I was reading one of my favorite blogs, Design Sponge. I could not believe my eye's, she had a guest blogger on from MILWAUKEE! The name of her blog is Cream City and Sugar. She moved there 10 years ago for college and loved it so, she stayed. Ironically I moved away about 10 years ago, so reading her blog was as if I'd never left. She talked about places I've been and new places I want to go. Like this Spanish style restaurant. I would call it a "Tapas" restaurant, but when every I say tapas my family say's "you like top less restarants?" So I've learned to call them Spanish restaurants :-D
Oh! And then I'm reading, reading, reading, I come upon a post of an etsy shop she like's and... it's a picture of my beautiful niece! What the??? Ah the blogosphere, ya got to love it!

If I was a rock star...

I would dress like this!

You can find more pictures and info here. Don't forget to check out her blog too!
She uses incredible vintage farbric! I had to stop the video to take it all in.
Just like I wanted to do at my nieces new apt. this weekend!. She has a neat old turquoise shelf stacked with some mighty nice fabric. I wanted to get all touchy feely and go through it one by one. Hopefully next time.
She got into the Renegade Craft Fair in New York City! Brooklyn to be exact. And I am super excited for her! Don't think she has a site for her clothing yet, but click here to check out her esty store.
Speaking of craft fair's and coming full circle, here's a video of "Pearl" setting up for a fair in Texas. guess that's why it's so big!

Double click on the video's to view them full size.

Now you know where I get my imagination

First I must start by telling you that the vegetarian stew I made last week was just OK. It could be because once you say vegetarian to me my mind automatically thinks boring! And I know that's not always the case. But it was this time. It's kind of like when you say your going to start a diet, you start craving junk food. And when I say you I mean me! See all I did was type the word diet and now I want a bag of potato chips. And when I say bag I mean bag!
So we're going to my folks house on Sunday to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, and I'm making this cake to bring.

It's an Italian Cream Cake, and I chose it because it's white so I can add green food coloring to it.
Ah, green food coloring! Brings back old memories. Growing up every St. Patrick's Day my Mom would color our breakfast with green food coloring. Now, your probably thinking wow that's amazing, did she mist the Rice Krispies with green food coloring?
As smart as my Mom is, she did not mist the Rice Krispies. Because St. Patrick's Day is in March and the cold cereal doesn't come out until June! That's right people it was green Cream of Wheat!
But it was also green milk at supper, and green baths at night! And the six of us thought we had the coolest Mom ever for doing that, and would look forward to it every year.
So this year I'm coloring the food green, but I don't like milk so maybe I'll put a drop in a glass of chardonny! But no green baths. My bath tub is mauve and adding green food coloring to it would just make it look too, icky.

Sweet

So... I haven't showed you a video for a while. So here's a great one. I can not believe the time and patients that it would take to pull a video like this one off. But from my end it was so worth it.

It's too wide for my blog so click here to watch it on YouTube.

The city of love

As much as I love the summer months I must admit I love the winter weekends more because I have less to do which of course means more time to BEAD! And wait till you see what I was making this weekend. Photo's when it's done.
I'll make sure to use the digital camera and not my camera phone like I did for these pictures I took of this necklace of my sister's.
She got it from a friend who's 89 year old aunt pasted away. The aunt travel much and must of picked this up on one of her visits to Paris. Sorry about the blurriness, I have yet to figure out how to stop that from happening. Anyhow it says something about the eiffel tower, and then PARIS is stamped on the bottom. The inside folds out to show black and white photos of the top eight places to see in Paris. It is the sweetest little necklace. My sister needed something to hang it on so I made the bail, and strung it on some beautiful hand dyed ribbon. She wasn't sure what length she wanted, problem solved! I beaded two tubes and put the ribbon inside so it slides and make it ADJUSTABLE!!! She's going to go nuts when she gets it! That and the Tim Tam chocolate cookies! Shhh don't tell!

Again, I apologize for the blurry photo's, but I just had to share this sweet necklace!

Warm and comfy food!

It's going to be a cold weekend, so you know what that means. That's right, low and slow! First I'll make this
Country Pot Roast
.

I have blogged about it in the past and it is the best pot roast recipe I have ever eaten. I heart the Barefoot Contessa!

Then to go with it I think I'll make Mushroom Risotto

Any leftovers and you could make these Fried Stuffed Rice Balls

Oh mama!

And of course a warm and comforting pot of soup! Like this one I've been meaning to make for awhile from Smitten Kitchen.

Black Bean and Pumpkin Soup!
If you like to cook you should really check out Smitten Kitchens blog, she has a recipe file you can scroll through, she take's picture of the food. And all her recipes are tried and true.
I can mix and match the leftover all weekend long! Yum!
